Property rents in the UK have risen to record highs. This is according to data from the British online portal with real estate offers "Rightmove" (Rightmove), informed in "Guardian", quoted by BTA.
The average rent price in London has reached a record £2,633 (€3,085) a month, a rise of 5.3 per cent in a year.
However, annual rent growth in the British capital has slowed significantly since the summer of 2022, peaking at 16.1 per cent year-on-year.
Property rents have also risen sharply in areas outside London. Their average value reached a record £1,291 (nearly €1,513) per month in the first quarter of 2024. This represents an increase of 8.5 percent compared to the same period in 2023, which is significantly ahead of the rate of increase in inflation, the "Guardian" points out.
In some cities, including Coventry (19.5 per cent) and Reading (19.1 per cent), property rents have jumped by almost 20 per cent year-on-year.
However, the undisputed record holder is the London suburb of Walton-on-Thames, where rents have risen by 34.6 percent compared to the first quarter of 2023, according to data from Rightmove.
